They might not get through but might get stuck and break a wing.Chicken wire is not that expensive, mighttie the wire to the inside of your panels.

This is what we've done but put the chicken wire on the outside to prevent something from pushing in.

Yes, but only the smaller ones. And, if they are happy where they are, they won't try to go through. Ours are penned inside cattle panels right now, because they were chasing people on the cul-de-sac and I didn't think our neighbors were going to appreciate that, and the three smaller ones have all gotten out at one time or another. Mine are Grays, probably not quite as big as Embdens.

I have no idea what mine are. They are white with an orange "horn" and really long necks. Both male. They slip right through the cattle panels. I put food and water on one side, they come through anyways, I think, just to get as close to me as possible, to honk as loud and often as they can. Was cute at first but now, I'm becoming homicidal when they're around. They have a pond not 200 ft. away. All the water they could play in. I feed them 2x a day. What do they do? They swim in the goat/calf water and bite the little kids so they can eat their grain. <sigh> anyone want to buy two geese?

on a side note, the ducks (two) who have nests right in the middle of every one/thing hatched out/are hatching out little ducklings today! I was thinking that our drake (one) was not sure of what to do since I never *saw* anything. but the ducks started sitting and I didn't bother throwing *these* eggs out (yes I pitched about 20 earlier eggs that I thought were bad) we just have a mutt duck and one peking (butchered that spelling) duck both are setting. I was amazed! sorry, hijacking the thread. gotta' go work in the garden some more.
