New Highland Calf 6/05/06

Beth gifted us with a heifer calf yesterday. Petite and cute. DGD has named her Tahlia, not bad for a five year old!!

Thanks for all the nice remarks. She is a real cutie. will probably be our milk cow in three years time.
Yes, Highland cattle have magnificent horns. I've only ever seen one without horns and that was a cow used for 4-H.
I'll post more photos as she grows.

They're both beautiful. Thanks for sharing the picture. You mentioned Tahlia would be your milk cow. Can you share more information on Highlands' use as family milk cows?

I've spoken with a couple of people in the area who milked Highlands. Said they were easy milkers and the milk was very rich 8 to 10% butterfat. I'm looking forward to it. Should get some really nice cheese with that much butterfat.
