What is this worth? A shotgun

Hubby bought a shotgun at a yard sale today, paid $100 for it.

It's a Winchester 12 gauge shotgun, Model 1200 with a 26" modified barrel. It's in excellent condition. What would you all say that is worth? He said about $200. He bought it to resell but now I think he's going to keep it because it's such a good gun.

More info than you may want to know:

Model 1200: there were 7 to 9 models made, from skeet to deer to magnum to "police series slide action security" (stainless). Most range from an average of $250 for new in box or 100% to about $110 for good condition (75%). Wood or synthetic stock, different gauges & barrel lengths.

Best refrence: Blue Book of Gun Values by S.P. Fjestad.
Wallyworld sells Gun Traders Guide that you can mosey through.

Sounds like your hubby got a good buy. Nice gun.

there is a website that many use to sell guns. gunsamerica dot com.

i did a quick search and the cheapest 1200 they had was $169. the most expensive was $500, but it had multiple barrels and such. most were around or a bit over $200.

nice buy. definately a keeper. they don't make them anymore. it will not lose value.

I owned a 1200 for many years, sold it, whished I hadn't, looked for another, bought something different, wished I hadn't.

I think that some of those guns carried trade names of major retailers, like Sears "Ted Williams". Same gun, usually a little lower price on the used market.

Gunbroker.com is another site to compare prices.

"ya done good". Any functional gun is worth $100 most anywhere. I have a few that won't even shoot in the gun case just for theives-hope they get them to fire as they will be in for a big surprise. I picked up a 30-30 Marlin recently for $100 and think it was a bargain also. Paid $75 for my first-but that was several yrs ago. Congrats on your bargain-now you need some ammo for the new toy. I would be willing to give three times that for a model 1200, been searching for one ever since my ex pawned mine for me.
