You think you're terrified of eminent domain??? I live in a "blighted" area (only "blighted" because most of the residents are elderly or low-income) next to a state and national scenic river! We moved here because the area was surrounded by farm-land (not anymore) and the waterway is soooo beautiful but we could very easily lose the home we have lived in for 16 years because of the "blighted" status and the fact that while our property values remain relatively low, the surrounding homes are selling for 3 to 4 times what our values are.
I know of several cities that were sued by Wal-Mart so they could put their junk stores in. It's funny how people's outrage is so quickly turned to bliss once they see the cheap merchandise and start getting paychecks from the same company they swore to avoid. "If you build it, we will shop" Does Wal-Mart have subliminal messaging in their advertisements????
