Does lamp oil (kerosene) go bad?

In cleaning out my mom's house (she has moved to an assisted living facility), I found a large hurricane lamp with oil still in it. I believe it has not been used for about 25 years. Would I be able to use this? Or do I need to empty it all out, start with a new wick etc....
any tips are appreciated!!!!!

Technically kero stays good and your lamp is likely OK. It can support bacterial growth and gum things up. I'd dump it and start with new oil at least.

If the kerosene has turned an amber color, get rid of it and put a new wick in the lamp.
