Nice Foreclosure Property Near Pomona, Kansas!

My husband and I saw a piece of property that is currently owned by the bank out of a foreclosure. Asking price $87,500.00. The house was built in 2001. It has 10 acres and is secluded as neighboring acreage surrounds it, so a possibility other land can be bought from neighbors. One website said it had a pond, didn't walk the acreage to find that, it does have a huge barn (metal), and acreage is fenced. I talked to a realtor about it and he said it has been on the market about 2 months. The bank originally wanted $92,000.00 but lowered it to current asking price. You may be able to offer a lower amount as they probably don't want to hang onto it. Here is the link:

I liked it because you could make it off the grid. Already has well water, house is all electric (heat pump for heat). You could install a wood stove and put up some solar panels eventually to get off grid. It does look like they used some cheap materials for the siding. I would definitely have it inspected to see if they went cheap all of the way. We did not see the inside other than from the windows, looks pretty good inside, funky layout, the front enters into the kitchen, so they call it the back, but that is what faces road. I think it could be turned into a decent place. Nice thing, also, is it is 6.8 miles from Pomona Lake (fishing, hunting!!): http://www.lasr.net/pages/lake.php?Lake_ID=KS03lk004

DH and I decided against it for us as right now our daughter is ready for college and we have some major expenses ahead of us!!

The realtors name I talked to was Chris. I don't know him or anyone connected to this property. Just saw that it was a foreclosure online and checked to see who listed it. Hope it helps someone looking for a homestead!

Are you near Pamona? If so we are less than an hour apart!

Very pretty area. Gentle rolling hills.

This is right up the road a ways from here ! I love this area, LOVE Pamona Lake, too. Just drove over the dam on the way back from a poultry swap a few weeks ago, saw a beautiful bald eagle flying over. The school there is very small, my daughter's class has only 15 students! You could get lost for days on the back roads.

that area is pretty good as far as jobs are concerned ( in kansas, anyway) about 45 minutes to topeka and about an hour to kansas city , KS also , ottawa has some jobs.

all in all, a good area of the state and sounds like a decent price for the area, looks to be a kit house though. been a lot of that in the past few years.

I am about 45 miles from Pomona. My husband and I hadn't really driven that area. It is SO pretty. We also drove around Rantoul and Ottawa, since the growth isn't that way yet. We have lived in Paola, but it is now getting busy and expensive that direction. The price seemed really good, but you are right it does look like a package house, so it would definitely need to be inspected by a professional to see if they cut corners in its construction. The realtor said a trailer had been there in the past, so I wonder how old the septic and well pump are. We didn't go inside, but I did look at an aerial map and didn't see a trailer on the map as of 1999. We are actually looking for just land right now as that is all we can afford, with DD starting college. We considered actually moving out there, but she would have too far to drive with her being that young and not an experienced enough driver IMHO. She has been driving two years, but those are a lot of two lane highways out there. That's nice to know you guys are around this area too. I thought I was in this area all alone (HT wise) !!!! PS If you guys see or hear of any land or land/house that needs fixing up, please PM me. Thanks!

This property is sold. I looked today on the website. It has a pending sale. Anybody from here buy it? That would give us an idea if our listing properties on here helps anyone.
