This was a co-op coop on a New Deal homestead in Arthurdale, West Virginia in 1936.

Just think of all the empty buildings in this country and how people could put them to good use if the government would support agricultural applications instead of trying to teach inner-city youth how to flip hamburgers and run a computer. Every town in America has empty, derelict structures which could be successfully converted into chicken coops and provide fresh, healthy meat for the community as a co-op! Think of all the empty lots that you have seen when driving through towns that could be used as community gardens.

If the government would apply 1 percent of the welfare money toward teaching people how to be as self-sufficent as possible think what a wonderful country this COULD be.

Actually, there are still quite a few of those old chicken houses left in some areas of the country. They could be put back to work at their originial purpose.

There are 50 windows on that front wall. I wonder who washed all those windows. You could make a dandy house out of that coop without much trouble at all.

What if one of them accidentally fell out of the top floor? Would that be considered chick-icide?
