another find on the farm((((shudder)))
got this in my e-mail today.
Patterson Drilling, Abilene, TX yard--- doing some cleanup around the yard. The forklift driver picked up a "pit" (10 ft by 10 ft by 30 ft), set it back down and called the office. "I need some people out here with shotguns". Three men showed up. As many got away as were killed----62.
(((shudder)))thank Goodness I wasnt this poor guy who stumbled upon these !!!!!

They don't look like rattle snakes to me. (don't see any rattles on their tails - or what's left of them) Were they just bull snakes?

I can understand if you find a pit of rattlers wanting to get rid of them if they were up at the house. Were they rattlers? Either way if they were or were just bull snakes I wonder what the rodent population will be up to in the next year!?

...and their little snakey dresses with their little snakey hairdos rushing off to the Snakey Mall to do snakey shopping...
Two kinds of snakeys. One is where it got away alive and one is at the snakey office with the snakey telephone on it's snakey ear making snakey deals...

That is about 25 miles from my house. (live just north of abilene)
Yes, those are rattle snakes. See the bands of black and white on the tail? Just beyond that is where the rattles are at.

Going from the pattern and body type, they look like rattlers to me! Must be mating season.

..................They must have been living\breeding under one of those steel frac tanks . They don't really start moving around until the temps are consistently up into the low 90's . I'm continually amazed that the rattlesnake RoundUP held in Sweetwater each April is able to collect literally thousands of rattlers without decimating the population of snakes . They pump gas\diesel fumes into every limestone cave that they can find and each year collect tons of new inhabitants . fordy...

How sad 
I hope their houses are over-ran with mice and rats this year...
There are people that would have gladly come in to move that colony of snakes but I guess no one seems to think of that, they would rather grab a gun fisrt.

Yes, there are Rattlers here....but you're right...not as many as TX has.
