Lightbulb 500 Gallon Collapsible Water Drums

All,

I may be able to acquire at auction 8, military surplus, 500 gal. collapsible water drums like the one pictured on page 12 of this document. I only need 1 or 2 myself. Would any of you be interested in purchasing 1 or more of the remaining 6 or 7? Keep in mind they weigh 230 lbs empty. So, shipping wouldn't be cheap.

I don't know what the auction price will be. So, it's difficult to say how much I would need for one. Nevertheless, I would estimate $100 per drum and around $200 for shipping.

If you're interested, I need to know ASAP as the auction ends today.

Regards,

Doug

Are you going to sell us the others at cost? If I could pick them up at your place and get them for a reasonable price $100 or preferably less, I would want 3 of them, How long are they supppose to last for? I read it but did not see that. I have never seen them before but being military they should be good. I hope you live in AR or thereabouts or on the way to KY?

If your in Florida and shipping is $200 I will just go with my original plan of conecting a lot of 55 gallon drums. I would like these though as they will give m ebetter water pressure to water my garden with I think. Where are you? and how much is the shipping to AR 72727 I am staying up late for you now.

The drums are in Jacksonville, FL. Here's the auction info. According to the manufacturer's info, they're 235 lbs. each. That's almost a ton for the 8 of them.

I'm not sure I'm going to bid on them as I'm not sure 1) how I would get them home, 2) where I would put them once I did or 3) how I would "get rid of" those I didn't need.

I've been thinking about this for a week. I wish I would have thought to post here earlier.

Does anyone know of an online freight calculator? Unfortunately, I don't know the empty dimensions.

jnap31,

I don't know how long they are supposed to last. All I know about these babies is what's in the PDF I posted earlier and the auction info. I also know they're used.

BTW, it's 1000 miles one way from you to me. As my Arkansasan dad would say, "That's a fer piece."

jnap31,

I don't think you should stay up any longer for this. At this point, it's not likely I'll get them. But if I do, I'll let you know.

Regards,

Doug

They sound like a great and useful thing, that you would not come across everyday, I hope you get them. If I had to I would pay up to $100 for just one and shipping up to $50 but I bet shipping would be a lot more than that, Yup 1,000 ,miles is a bit to far to travel. Thanks for thinking of us though, I wish I was closer to you.....

If my calculations are correct..500 gallons of water would weigh over 4000 lbs!

Would it be more advantageous to have 9 or 10 collaspible 50 gallon containers? With the smaller containers..they would be easier to transport.

Here is a site that has collaspible containers on auction..a government liquidation site:
http://www.govliquidation.com/list/c7543/lna/1.html

Another site that everyone is familiar with is e-bay..here they have a 250 gallon container up for auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-250-GALLON-P...QQcmdZViewItem

Here..E-bay currently has other types water containers up for auction:
