215,000 miles on my Toyota truck
The odometer on my Toyota truck turned 215,000 miles this weekend. Our daughter was riding with me when it turned and we began musing about just how far that is. I looked it up and that would take the truck a little more than eight and one half times around the equator of the Earth. When I think that not too long ago most people were born, lived and died within 100 miles, I can't help but think that modern life is just a bit strange.
It's generous to figure that this four-cylinder truck gets 30 miles per gallon. At that rate, more than 7,100 gallons of fuel have gone through this engine. At $2.65 a gallon, the cost is more than $18,815.
Now if I could just remember all the places I've been ...

................Toy's seem to hold together quite well and 200 to 300,000 miles is not uncommon anymore . I'm convinced that the key to mechanical longivity is maintenance esp. frequent oil\airfilter changes . My 99 PSD f250 has almost 95k and I'm shooting\hoping for 300k . I change my oil\filter every 5k and guess I'll drop back to 4k after my nect oil change . I'm getting 17 mpg which is fair for a fairly heavy truck . Wish I had a Cummins but I'm very happy with NO 500 per payments . This truck seems to be an ideal tradeoff as it'll pull just about any tractor I have sense enough to run or travel trailer i'll beable to afFord. Plus Toy is supposed to be coming OUT with a one Ton diesel in the next couple of model years and that is worth waiting for . Plus who can project what diesel fuel will cost a year from now . fordy...

It's hard to beat a Toyota. I hope you can get a 1/2 million out of it!

I sold a Buick that had 264,000 miles on it a few years ago, and someone is still driving it around town. I think the only thing I ever replaced was the blower motor for the heater, which cost $17. Wish I still had that Buick.
My '98 Chevy Monte Carlo has never been in the shop for anything, and it has 99,000 miles on it. I fully believe that I will get at least 250,000, but will be disappointed if I don't get 300,000.
The car I miss more and more every day was our '01 Pointiac Grand Am. Car had 84K and never in the shop for anything. Got totaled a year ago. That car was safe!!! After the accident, the EMT's couldn't figure out where the victim was when they got there. They even asked my wife, the driver of the car when it got hit, "Do you have any idea where the driver went?"
Funny how strong, safe and reliable the car companies can build a car.

We traded in a GMC Suburban 2 years ago with 551,000 on it. I wish we had kept it, after that many miles it's like a part of the family.

Those toyota 20r/22r engines are fantastic.I had a '78 celica with a 20r,it had over 200,000 on it,but with a little help from a bigger cam, hotter ignition, and dual side draft carbs, would still boil the tires.

My Toyota Sienna van has 200,000 plus on it....and it is only a 2000 model.
I almost traded her in. but did not like the fake tortoiseshell console and armrest material in the 2006 model, so will wait a few more years. I did like the rear view mirror adaption that let me watch the kids more closely in the back seat and the 3rd row seats that fold into the flooring when not in use. By 2009 they should have even more new innovations. I can wait.

between my 1988 Toyota 4x4 and my 1991 Toyota Camry I have nearly 500,000.
Car has 235,000 and the truck has 195,000. Grand total I have stuck into these 2 cars is about $700 and that includes the purchase prices. I will drive the tires right off of these 2 before I let them go.

250,000 on my 1994 Civic. Toyota Corolla went 150 with no complaints before it was sold.
I'd sell my soul for a 4-Runner

93 subaru legacy, awd, has 215k too. consistent 25mpg.
just retired it to farm only use, and bought a 96 outback wagon. the only reason i bought another is because the interior of this first one is so bad, i'm ashamed to let people near it. or smell it.:-) hauled a few goats, hay and too many bags of feed to count.

I had a 1991 Honda Accord that had 260,000 five years ago when I sold it to my mechanic. He bought it for his 16 year old daughter. Last time I talked to him she was still driving it and it had over 300,000.

The freightliner I drive turned 600,000 this week, they'll give us a new one probably next year when it's at about 750,000. It averages about 5.5 MPG.
