...in a pinch

I just got back from Rural King. I found some baby chicks tonight and we put them in a cage, but of course we didn't have any chick starter, so off i had to go to the store tonight. So I got to thinking of the number of times I've been in a pinch and had to break and run to go get some form of food, so I took an empty coffee can and filled it and I'm leaving it on the porch, along with a can of milk replacer, corn and anything else I can find. I figure, even if the can of food goes bad, it's worth waisting a little to try to ensure always having some on hand, ....when you need it in a pinch!

So what does everyone else do for in a pinch type things?

corn meal. alaways got plenty of it around. it'll feed chicks, pigs, goats. mix it up into a thick dough to feed dogs. it'll keep body and soul together until i can get to town the next day. or two.

Ground corn can feed almost anything. Cheap cans of tuna can feed the rest.

Milk replacer...Whole milk, Karo Syrup and egg yolk has worked for many a critter.
