Is your recommendation based on a soil sample? If so, then I would follow the recommendations pretty closely. One thing you might consider, though, is that sandy soil can leach out nitrogen pretty quickly. If you put it all out at planting some of the nitrogen could leach away before the plants can use it. I would probably use something with a little less nitrogen at planting, and then side-dress with more nitrogen when it's about knee high.

Talking Something fishy here!

Simply plant a fish with every seed. Depending upon how much corn you have to plant you may have to fish all summer to get them. Darn.........

This is not at all accurate.
The indian method you tried to mention goes like this.
They start with a 3-4 foot hill
Loosen the soil and place fish in the center under several inches of soil. Next plant your corn in the middle. 4-6 seeds next plant your beans around the corn in a circle. next plant your squash around the outside.

The plants do well together. The corn uses the nitrogen from the bean. the beans use the corn for support. the beans and corn protect the squash when small from the wind and rain. The squash protects the corn and beans from the animals with their sharp spiny leaves as they get older.

One thing to consider is today we have alot more animals that will try to big up that fish than in years past.

As for which commercial fert. to use......I have no Idea. I have always used poop.

I really enjoyed the slideshow of your farm. Goats chickens, rabbits, maple syrup, blueberrys and gardening. You do a little of everything. Did you put the pond in yourself?

Thank you for the comments.

No the pond was here when we got the place.
The pond has a BIG leak. So I have to get some clay and fix it up so we can get some fish in it.
