garbage incineration

anyone here have a municiple incinerator in their county? two of the townships near us are considering using this method to dispose of garbage and generate electric power. have heard that they do not pollute the air and are clean compared to the garbage midden systems they now use . the present recycle system would stay glass, tin, some plastic,paper/fiber and organics.

There is a fairly big one a couple hours south of here. They process about 800 tons a day through it. There seems to be a concern over the levels of dioxin that is released into the air when pvc is burned. It was originally built in a sparcly populated area. The towns are starting to get closer now.
