Skidmore is where the town's people shot the town bully and nobody talked. If I remember right they surrounded him on main street and he died of gunshot/shots and nobody talked. I followed the story in the Kansas City paper. This guy was the nastiest of the nasty and I believe they did the right thing. If I'd lived there I probably would have at least been a witness. Towns people basically told the FBI "nobody saw 'nuttin'".

OOH..I heard about that..whoa..
It generally seems like a nice area, but I've never been there..one of the very few parts of Missouri that I haven't set foot in (yet). I'm going to though, since this little homestead has everything that I want/need and is in my price range..Certainly worth looking at.

Near Chillicothe

Chillicothe is a nice rural area of Missouri. Interstates are nearby to take you KC area. Good schools and nice small town feel. Would not hesitate to consider living there.

I live about 63 miles west of Chillicothe. I think NW, MO is the best place in the world to live, with friendly people and good farm land. Go to this website for a community profile of Chillicothe: http://www.chillicothemo.com/profile.htm

By the way Skidmore is not close to Chillicothe. We haven't had any vigilante killings around here and we are closer to Skidmore than Chillicothe.

They made a movie about it called "In Broad Daylight". The guy definitely had it coming. That area of Missouri has a history of taking care of business when the law won't. Skidmore is near Maryville where something similar happened in 1930. A man who brutally murdered a young school teacher was dragged from the jail, chained to the roof the the bloody schoolhouse where the murder had taken place and the schoolhouse set ablaze burning him alive. That's one way to discourage rape and murder.

I'd say old McElroy got off lucky getting shot to death in the town square.

I had/have relatives there for the Maryville incident. Story was told all the time in our family. The school teacher was a close family friend. The McElroy thing I won't comment on specifically obviously other than to say he got what was coming to him.
