Required registration of Animal Feed

When we went to buy chicken food yesterday at our local MFA Feed Store, we were told that from now on we are required to register our names, addresses, and phone numbers with ever sack of food we buy for any animal, including dogs and cats. The information is given to Homeland Security. When asked why, they said in case the food is contaminated then fed to animals that are fed to the general public. They said every feed store will be required to do this by the end of 2006, including stores that sell only dog food. I asked who is eating dogs and cats, but didn't get an answer to that. Anyone else ran into this yet or is MFA just getting crazy?

Sounds crazy to me I know the state has some record of my chicken feed and anything I buy at the same time, because I'm tax-exempt on the feed. Are they trying to do that with wild and pet bird food as well? I can't see anyone eating their pet budgie or cockatiel. I seriously doubt anyone is making meals out of starlings and sparrows. Seems like just one more way to get you with that NAIS.

I'm sorry, I can't beleive this. Did you ask to see documentation of the regulation? If it exists get a copy and post it, or post it at www.stopanimalid.org , please.

My baby brother used to eat the dry cat food. Drove my mother NUTS but she couldn't stop him. He just got sneaky about it.

Keeping my eye on this one...

I had a one local feedstore tell me that they were required after the first of the year to keep track, another said... "huh?!?".

In my opinion, this is the biggest danger of sweeping "Acts" by the government, because this takes the rule of law out of the local voting governments in the name of Federal Safety. I didn't vote on any of this...

For someone who doesn't have many posts, you sure don't mind telling other posters that they are paranoid. Seems to me, you don't have a clue about what is going on and athe gravity of the situation.

Wow, I'd like to hear where you are living...just a state is fine, lol.

I'm in Oregon, but buy my feed over in Washington. Last week when I was there I noticed a sign up sheet for NAIS. When I asked about it, the owner rolled her eyes and said that its a sign up sheet for a "meeting" to discuss what the NAIS is about. We got to talking about it, and she said no one has told her that it is going to be mandatory for buying feed YET.

I'm thinking it's time to see how buying feed underground is going to work out. If it's impossible in my area...well, the farm animals will go. The dogs and cats can eat people food.

DH and I were discussing this earlier today. We pretty much feel we'll have just enough livestock for our own needs, and not buy an feed. Goats, chickens, rabbits, pigs... whatever we can sustain on our land without commercial feed.

Post I have no intention of complying

Of the three closest feed sources, the MFA and two Mennonite feed operations, I would only be concerned about the MFA. However, as the employees there are idiots about feed and minerals, they aren't a source for me.

Of the two Mennonite suppliers, one notes down nothing for cash sales, which I how I pay. The other one has a computer system, grudgingly, but I will give them a new set of false account information if it becomes a problem to "register" all my purchases. I will continue to pay cash, as that is what that dealer prefers.

I refuse to comply with any of these idiotic rules, regulations and laws. I will do whatever it takes to become a blatant objector to the goober brainless drivel.

regestration for animal feed

If you were to refuse to give personal information to the Feed Store would that feedstore refuse to make the Sale. I think not. Just tell them no thanks when they ask for the infomation. Most people justcomply when asked a question. It should not be necessary we are not buy the feed from the government we are buying from a private business.... or are we??

Ummmmmm
On one hand, the gov't wants to get rid of cash. (Credit cards are easier to learn about a person)
On the other hand, they pass more rules & regulations that make a lot of us think cash is the best way to shop.
Registering is based on the fact that most people don't lie about their personal information.

Hmm. Normally I'd just call "BS" on the original post, but I do suppose it's possible to have an individual feed store go buck wild.

I'm 100% certain there's no homeland security requirement for this. Though with our government, that's a yet statement.

Grocery stores have been doing this for years, it's called the discount card, nothing but a way to track customers(well, and screw those who are not paying attention) I put false information on them all. However, this was many years ago and I had a clerk say "Thank you, Mr. Williams" the other day and it threw me for a minute.
