Fill the Tub; An ICE Storm is on the way!!!!!

If you live in the North East we got a big one on the way.
Get your tub full and stoke up the wood stove. Heck today I even got some kero for the aladdin. It looks like snow but mostly ice.

What preps. are you'all doin.

Don't forget to wrap/cover the outside fawcets. Had ice here last week and remebered to take care of the house but forgot the barn. Pipe cracked and was leaking for several days before I noticed. Stay warm and safe up there!!!

NW PA here. Been combination of sleet and freezing rain today and windy. Suppose to change to snow tonight. Just came in from doing eveing chores. It is a mess out there!

We're supposed to get a thumpin' of snow here along the seaway with freezing rain mixed in!
I'll be prepping as soon as I finish up with the "socializing"!

Here it's real windy and blowing snow. Temp is 18. We got maybe 1 inch of snow so far. The forcast says we are to get lots of ice.

I wish it would just be snow. We will see what happens. The ladies (4 laying hens) are in their coop and all the other criters are in the "DEEP FREEZE". So the homestead is mostly quite.

Northern Vt here... supposed to get snow and ice but more snow than ice. When I got up at 4:00 it was just starting to snow. The teachers told the kids yesterday that it was supposed to be a nor'easter so probably no school today ---- translation - there will be no school because the teachers want a day off! Its okay, its Friday we will probably take them skiing.

No chains for us. We don't usually have any problems even with the fact that we are out even when they say nothing but emergency vehicles because we do heat and that qualifies as emergency vehicles. I love winter and hate it too... my RA is raging today... but I love the snow.

Upstate NY here, the schools are all closed and we are supposed to be hit with a bunch of snow during rush hour. Doesn't look good for us commuters. All my windows are covered with ice, I think it will take a good 30 minutes to get my blazer driveable. I am debating highway vs. side roads. Will post on arrival to work regarding conditions. (I'm a nurse so I can't cancel).

It just started to snow here in Central Maine.....no school...but we homeschool and my sister picked up kiddies yesterday for the weekend....left me just the 5yo....
We have chains for the ATV but not for our vehicles....we try not to drive at all when the roads are bad....hubby usually takes the Subaru but he has the truck today which is 4wd but not as good as the car...

I guess I should fill up some buckets and the water jugs, charge the powerpack fully, get some candles ready, fill the woodbox and get my cooking done this morning....we lost the brakes on the plow truck so our neighbor is hopefully fixing that....too early to use snowbanks to stop like we did last year

My Grandma used to chain up when she had to go get her gambling fix in Reno...she lived in Rocklin CA...she was adventurous!

It's still snowing here. Thick heavy crunchy stuff! Some freezing rain too but it dosen't seem as bad as I anticipated! Didn't fizz the critters much (they are my most predictable weather gages) so I don't expect it to get much worse.
I've never seen anybody "chain up" here, I'm not even sure if we're allowed! I love my ford escort wagon, big knobbies on it and I just go, go, go!!!

Ice came in on the 14th. Power went off for 3 hours back on for 30 minutes off 5 hours back on now. (15th)

Weather man calling for Snow Sunday.

As I type this it's still nice outside. Hasn't frozen yet, but I'm sure it will. I don't mind dealing with the snow and cold, but the ice is what is hard for us.

I bet the city folk are clearing the grocery shelves of milk, bread & eggs

I made corn chowder....

It snowed about 2 inches, stopped for an hour started again as rain/freezing rain/sleet now temp says 28 now it was 17 this morning so the roads are probably going to be slick....

Good news...neighbor fixed plow truck breaks

You know no city water here no electric means no running water....sure gets stinky if you can't flush!

We used to fill the tubs (ice/snow storms in OH & NY or hurricanes in NC) mainly for flushing toilets. Always had bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, etc. Never had to use the water from the tubs but it was such a relief, no pun intended

to know it was there just incase.
