Fish? Like maybe a couple goldfish? Just a thought.

We use a product called "Horse Trough Protector" by Care Free Enzymes. It seemed to work quite well this past summer to keep down the slime & algae. I bought it off Ebay, but the bottle has a phone number on it 262-878-0904.
Good luck.

Goldfish

If your tank does not freeze, goldfish work fine. The green moss does not hurt the tank nor does it bother the animals. However, dropping grain and so in into the tank tells me you have the tank too close to the feed trough. Never put your water trough next to a feeder.
