Idea regarding buying clubs

In another recent post, Squashnut gave us this link, for anyone looking for a local buying club. I checked it out and found two that were fairly close to me. I spoke to a woman this morning, and we chatted for several minutes. There are 12 families in this group, they place monthly orders, pick-up is 5 minutes from my house. The cost is $12 per year, which pays for the monthly sales flyer and the big catalog. (I'm sure the groups are all different). Anyway, I told her about my farm, that I have free range hens and sell eggs, beehives and sell honey, and I grow and sell seasonal produce. I asked if she thought any of the members would be interested in my products, and her response was "Oh my gosh YES!". I thought this was worth mentioning to you all, as so many of us look to supplement our incomes from our homesteads. Every little bit helps, and it's certainly good exposure. I'm always open to suggestions on ways to bring in more cash from my place.

Here's that link www.unitedbuyingclubs.com Thanks again, Squashnut!

unitedbuyingclubs.com covers Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennesee, Virginia, Vermont, and West Virginia

ozarkcoop.com covers Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Northern Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.

Find more buying clubs through these directories:
coopdirectory.org
localharvest.org

Some of you may be lucky enough to find more than one club in your area. That would give you the chance to compare prices and maybe have a bigger selection.

Saw this and was thinking that some lucky husband was getting a new set of golf clubs from his wife for Christmas.

I joined a club called Oklahoma Food Co-op. Everything (with the exception of some things like coffees) are grown or made in Oklahoma. The meat is grass-fed and grass-finished, the eggs are free-range and nothing has growth hormones or weird stuff in them. For the people in OK or any other bordering states it might be something to look into. BTW, it's not cheap like the $store or a warehouse, but it is very good wholesome food. Yankee

I am also a member of the Oklahoma Food Coop. It is awesome. The website is oklahomafood.coop. You have to be an Okie to join, but I know there are a few on this message board. Like OK Yankee said, it is not cheap. I feel better about it, though. I believe it to be more nutritious food and I like to help local farmers rather than ConAgra or some other huge food corporation.

You have to make a $50.00 deposit to join. If you decide to un-join, you get that money back. You order once a month and there are pick-up sites all over the state. It is a WONDERFUL system.

And I was wondering why someone would buy a club for hitting people Really now, how many homesteaders golf?

Actually, I belong to a United coop. It is a great way to buy some stuff but you need to compare prices. There are quite a few things I can get other places for less. There was a thread in the family forum about bulk food stores a while back. There are quite a few in NY that might be worth checking out to see if they are close enough to buy from on occasion.

Does anyone know where I could find one in the Northwest? Oregon, Washington, &/or Idaho? Please let me know if there is something in particular to look up or if you actually know about one. Thanks, God Bless.
