Howdy!

Just wanted to say hey! We live in the Coast Range of Oregon, atop a ridge that gets the brunt of winter storms ;0). We've got 10 acres, 2 dogs(standard poodle and blue heeler), 6 cats(I'm a softy for dumped kittens) 7 chickens and two boys. I absolutely love the quiet here and just listening to the trees grow, or the wind follow the shape of the hills. The kids love their motocross track and shooting and "extra" snow days. My hubby loves shoving stuff around with the bulldozer and seeing what he can weld up, Red Green style. I could never go back to the burbs, and I've had great fun getting to know my small town and quirky neighbors. So heeelllllllllooooooo!

I had a 45 of that. One side was sung by Senator Everette (edit,Dirksen)The flip side was Bobby Kennedy.Wish I still had that!

Edit-Lots of artists sang it,the 2 senators were my favorites.

The Troggs wrote/played Wild Thing. They formed and performed in my town over here, Andover, Hampshire, England. The bar they first played in became what is now my bank on the main (high) street.

WT, I would like a standard poodle as well but DH and DD are prejudiced- claim it is too French/prissy/ etc. Can you give me some arguments against that or just convince me not to want one say by price of purebreds? Are there any mixes around that might be cheaper and less poodley so I can trick my family?

What about allergies to dogs? Any better with poodles? And shedding?

Welcome!

Your poodle reminds me of a book I received from a friend: Fifty Acres and a Poodle. Great book on one woman's transition to rural life.

Sounds like you're enjoying your rural life. Looking forward to sharing and visiting with you.

Welcome to our little "odd people" group LOL. I had a standard poodle as a kid , what a great smart dog! You will find much knowledge and friendship here. You will also find some good/great arguments too! Takes the boredom right out of winter it does!

Hi! Thanks for writing and welcomes ;0). About the poodle, she is an apricot color(like a golden retriever color) and we cut her ourselves, so she definately doesn't get a foo-foo cut! Although she has gotten a few mohawks. She is very smart and a great watchdog--she wouldn't bite unless things were really bad, and I admit it is fun to "barely" have her restrained when unwanted callers come to the door(which dropped off real quick;0) She doesn't mind gunshots, you could shoot all day with her next to you, but she's terrified of thunder and firecrackers. I guess poodles are a "one man" dog, my hubby is her sun and moon and stars, and the kids are below her in the pack, but she obeys ME ;0) She is "good" with the chickens, she would lay by them in their cage for hours when they were chicks, and when they were all grown up she wouldn't really chase them, but she would "catch and release"--she'd put a paw on their back and lick them(but we don't let this go on often;0). She doesn't smell doggy, and hardly sheds and doesn't seem to bother my allergies. The poodle and the heeler are quite the "odd couple" together and we get some strange looks when we're out camping. Her fur gets full of seeds at a certain point in the summer, and we just shave it off instead of trying to comb it out. I've seen "Labradoodle" dogs on tv that look pretty funky, if we were to breed her we'd make those. Was that more than you wanted to know about poodles? :0)

We have three "blue" bikes(including mine ;0) plus a green one

I just looked it up and found that it was The Troggs, like you all said...that's kinda sad because I can think of so many people that covered that song, but I didn't know the original band that did it.
I wouldn't have thought Bobby Kennedy did that song..was that some special promotion?? lol

with Teddy on the ocarina.

It was a novelty record, not the real people. Although, Dirksen did a few things, mostly readings from great lit. Remember how Ed Sullivan usually had a reading on each show? Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Victor Buono, etc.

Are you positive it wasnt them cause if I remember it listed their names on each side and dont recall any other names. But that it could have been the equivalent of 'Wierd Al' I wouldnt doubt.Where is Dr. Dimento when we need him,is he still around?

"Teddy on the Ocarina" LOL,I was beginning to think I was the only one who had ever heard it.That sure was a hoot,eh???
