Metal porch roof question

I've got a new metal roof on my back porch. It sweats and drips when the weather changes and it's also extremely noisey in the heavy rain. Roof is framed with 2x6's. Any suggestions on what to possibly insulate with? I would like to put a finished ceiling of luan or bead board this summer.

They make several kinds of insulation you can use, but the ones I'm familar with go on BEFORE the metal....there is the fiberglass batt type with the white plastic on the face they use on metal buildings or you can use a 4x8 sheet type foam, or even the 1/4" folding type foam they use under vinyl siding.....almost anything just to keep warmer, moist air from hitting the bare, cooler metal, which is what is causing your condensation.....assuming you aren't going for an insulated open type ceiling. ( If you are, use the batt type with white plastic like they do on regular metal buidlings )

There 'may' be a spray type you could use, but I'd guess it's expensive, and I'd guess you'd be hardpressed to reach every nook and cranny around the rafters and batten strips ( or whatever cross members you used perpendicular to the rafters ).....so taking it back up and using what I said might be the best route to go.

Noise will cut with about any insulation you use......but really the sound of rain on the roof is supposed to be one attractions.....ahahahahaaaaa

We have a metal roof on our house. From the top down this is the order of what you'd find.
metal
house wrap, it's breathable
2 by 6 rafters with trays between them for air flow
fibreglass insulation
plastic
drywall
The sound of rain can still be heard but it is muffled.

Sprayed on polyurethane is outstanding for solving the problem you have. It is very expensive compared to other insulation. It is the only insulation that improves structural strength by "gluing" EVERYTHING together. Unfortunately, this factor makes future repairs or modifications a real adventure.

I have thought about using a spray-on bedliner product as an insulator when I build my shop. Has anybody used this? This is the only thing I could think of that would not be as expensive as the comercial spray on insulation.

Whatever spray on product is used, it must have insulation properties. If it does not, it will attain the same temperature as the metal roofing would have and water will condense on it just as easily.
