Norcross Georgia, or thereabouts...?

Hi all,

There is a good chance there may be a job opportunity there for DH in the forseeable future..
Anybody have any comments about this area good, bad, or ugly? lol

The surrounding areas would be fine too. All I know is that it is in Gwinette (sp?) county. I guess any city within a 30 mile radius of Norcross would work too. We are looking for at least 1.5 to 2 + but no more than 10 acres with an existing habitable home on it.

Any info, links, real estate prices, or comments welcome and appreciated.

Thanks-Rose

Rose,

Be prepared, property in GA is really expensive for the most part. As far as the job - if your husband is a good communicator, I may be able to arrange a job in a call center for him. Feel free to send me a private message.

Cheers
Maarten

Maarten,

Thanks for the offer but my husband may get transferred from his job here to another branch of the same company out there. Otherwise we would not be anticipating the move.

I have been poking around realtor.com and the prices seem very reasonable to me. Keep in mind we live in So Cal and the housing is insane out here. Anything around $150K and under is a bargain to me as our home cost way more than that out here ..lol

ok, SoCal - nuff said!
$150k for 10 ac is a bargain here as well, but more realistic than in soCal!

Rose,

It is expensive to buy land near Norcross, but you might find some north on I-85 or I-985. Hall, Barrow, and Walton counties would be your best bests for acreage. Be prepared for commutes of 1-2 hours. You might also consider an in-town apartment with a separate purchase of a farm/land in other areas. NE Alabama and some counties just south of Atlanta are much better buys, and in some cases my better farm land. Good luck to you and your family.

Traffic is the issue

You need to research in-depth the distance your hubby will travel from the office to home. The Atlanta area is a traffic nightmare, matching anything Los Angeles has. We paid an extra 100K to live 3.5 miles from work instead of 7 miles because it cut my commute from 1 hour to 35 minutes.

GA lacks the infastructure it needs because the developers didn't want to pay for it and the "good ole boy" network let them get away with it.

In particular for Gwinnett, there is no decent way to travel East to West.
If you want real acreage, you will have to head towards Greenville or Jaspar.
