Wood stove with water jacket.

Trying to find a manufacturer that makes a wood stove with a water jacket. This is for indoor use.

Did you try a google search? We have an external wood boiler that heats all our household hot water as well as the house. Not what you were asking about but we can look up similar stoves by googling. Our wood stove is a Taylor. I like the fact all of the mess is kept outside of the house. Our 13 room house is a toasty 72 degrees even when the temp is below zero. Good luck with your search

This would be just for heat and inside the house.

It will back-up the solar hot water heating in the winter and provide some space heating as well.


We might go the cookstove way if needed but would prefer something more efficent, without spending the big bucks on a masonary stove.

If you are looking for a wood boiler indoor furnace to plumb into your system, then Tarm, AHS, Harman, and several others make good ones. You are looking at $2500 and up for an install.

King(something) or (Something)king makes inexpensive & less efficient ones that are sold at many farm supply stores, such as TSC, etc. I'm sorry I forget the name. All mentioned have web sites, do a google search. I believe there were $1500 bare bones, but that was before the energy & iron price issues....

If this is not what you are looking for, I'm confused, as a stove heats air, a boiler (doesn't really boil water.....) creates hot water. A stove heats a room, while a furnace heats a whole building. Not sure what it is you are looking for from those combinations?

You may find a wood stove with a hot water preheater coil, I don't know if that will provide the type of output you are looking for - mostly hot air in the single room, but some heated water to pipe away.

I built mine, but it sits outside in a small shed. If you want it inside you will need to buld a chimney. I have picture if you want to see. I have never heard of a wood stove with a water jacket other than the fairly new "outdoor wood boilers" wich like rambler said doesnt really boil the water.

We are looking for something to "preheat" water and provide some heat to the water. I was hoping we would not actually have to build it ourselves.

We will have infloor radiant heat. The water will be mainly heated with solar panels on the roof. The wood stove wood be for back-up during longer cloudy periods and extreme cold. Water for this does not have to be" boiling" Right now I keep the house warm with water heated to only 110 degrees.

I have the option of placing a heating coil in a brick or rock, "wood stove surround" but was thinking someone might already manufacture this type of wood stove.

My infloor heat has water that is 160 running through it, I don't think mine would work with 110 water, maybe it would, but we are in Western NY and things get pretty cold here. I've heard of people wrapping copper piping around their woodstove chimney as a water pre heater but confess I have no idea how it's done, I'm sure someone could explain that for you. Maybe an aga or a rayburn if you could find one (expensive though) would work.

Our house is built with structural insulated panels and the floors are stained cement with imbedded pex tubing. We get very cold(Wyoming). 110 water works fine. We heat with a propane on demand heater that only heats to the temp. that we set on the remote controller. It is really a great system. We use the same water heater for our domestic hot water. I just turn the temp up on the remote control when I need it hotter and then turn it back down. Our floor is only 2 inches of cement so reacts faster.

The water temperature in our Talor Wood Stove gets up to 180 degrees. We have baseboard in half of our house and a coil in the other half. Works great for us here in New York. We heat hot water year round with the stove. We had to ad anattachment to cool the water for washing dishes and batheing.
I remember my Aunt had a cook stove with a reservour for heating water. I suspect they still make those.

Depends on your price point, and BTU needs.

A stove with a hot water preheater might work for you, & will be cheaper. Be careful of homemade deals putting a loop of tubing inside a firebox, that creates _steam_ on a bad day and is very explosive. I would look for something engeered by the pros, to keep your insurance co happy. This will likely supply heat in a room, & keep your floor only tepid, not hot. But, for backup that might be what you are looking for?

The water boiler furnaces would do what you want very well, which I mentioned already, they create controlled water heat of less than 200 degrees. However, they may be more $$$ than you want to spend on a backup deal.
