Quilting help needed

I have been quilting since 1982. Probably 15 years ago I made a Mariners Compass quilt for my youngest daughter. She dragged the quilt all over on overnights with friends and even away to college for 4 years. Now she is married and has the quilt folded up on her spare bed. The border of the quilt is in tatters but most of the blocks and the backing are ok. I think I can remove about 4 inches of the edge of the quilt and replace it and the quilt will be ok again. However, Laura wants me to make her a second quilt exactly like the first but larger for her water bed. I have no idea where the origonal pattern might be. I think it was from one of those Annuals that quilters Newsletter put out way back when. Does anyone know where I can get a free Mariners Compass pattern? I can try to measure my old quilt blocks but my experience has not been good in getting them to match. Thanks for your help.
Linda

linda let me look in my quilt books and see if I have one that I can copy and then I'll let you know and send it to you if you want.

You should be able to find one @ the local library....just photocopy it. Of course there is also a Quilt guild near you - join & have buddies to quilt with!

old quilt

My daughter just dropped off the old quilt. It really is still pretty. I am amaized that I am the one who made it. I am going to try to trace the pattern by hanging the quilt in front of a window so the light shines through it. It wasn't the traditional Mariners compass pattern. It looks more like a giant sunflower. I spent most of gloomy today in New York looking for fabric on line. What fun. All the local quilt shops have closed around here so I will have to mail order my fabric this time.
