Carla Emery in hospital....

Just read on her previous thread about the Discovery Channel program as posted by "caretaker" that Carla Emery has had a heart attack and is in the hospital. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Through her book over the past 20+ years, she has provided me and probably many others here with much homesteading advice.

I'll keep Carla and Don in prayer.

When she was here in June, she looked a bit shakey and even pastey, figured it was the heat.

Anyone know where we can send get-well wishes?

Pony!

edited to say:

I just went to Carla's site (http://carlaemery.com), and here's the contact addy posted there:

Carla Emery • P.O. Box 133 • San Simon, AZ 85632

No mention on the site about her health, however.

She and Don have my prayers too. I was given a copy of her book back in the late seventies/early eighties. It's is a wealth of information, and easy to read. I tried all sorts of things I might not otherwise have even thought of doing, including soap making.

Now I have a new copy of the book that I purchased last year, and my British husband loves to read it too! It's a must have for anyone who yearns to live a simpler and more self sufficient lifestyle more attuned to the rythm of the cycle of the seasons.

I'll be checking back often to see if there are any updates.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I feel like I know her.

Her book has been instrumental in helping me switch over to this lifestyle. Whenever I need to know something, it's always in her book. I am planning on buying the new edition for my Christmas present this year.

I'll say a special prayer for her every night now.

I will keep her in my thoughts.
First saw Carla when she made a stop in Riverside CA, in a small trailer with a couple of the kids.
Got her "book" on Good Friday 1978 in Kendrick after we had moved back to Western Washington. Didn't see her that day, but one of the ladies helping her at the printshop came over and got us a copy. It was three hole punched and bound together with wire.
Saw her at a Sheep to Shawl in Monroe in the late 80's and agaiin at some function in the late 90's.
Got my new copy last year. Not quite as much fun as the original.

hope she gets thru this ok. I did a phone interview with her for our local newspaper four years ago and she seems like a very very nice person. She even sent me a copy of her book since our local library didn't have one.

I hope that if someone finds out where she is, and can post an address, that they will. She and Don stayed at our home a year or so ago when she was touring, and we saw her again at the Energy Fair at Custer, WI in June. Had supper with her and Don on Thursday at the Fair, and her booth was near the one that my youngest son was working at, so we saw a lot of them at the energy fair.
She and Don are fun to talk to, full of ideas and information, and always listening and learning, too.

Of course I'll be keeping both Don & Carla in my thoughts and prayers. She stayed with us last year during her trip too, and they are both wonderful people.
