No problem filling them here in TN either. The Exxon dealer makes a regular route.....I just call them and they bring whatever you want. If you couldn't get them filled, a WHOLE lot of small businesses like the sawmill down the road would be out of business.
As the the "farm diesel".....they dye it red so you can't use in an road vehicle.....that's the case in every state I know of around here ( TN, VA, NC, SC ) because the DOT folks check for the dye....bigtime fine if they catch ya.
As to the value of the tank, I'd say not too much......I got a 180 gallon one I use for diesel from someone that was getting rid of their oil heat some years ago....and I got a 300 gallon one I use for gasoline from a neighbor that is a truck driver and was going to set it up for a home fueling storage when he came in off the road, but then changed his mind. It was brand new, and I gave him 50 bucks for it.....but there was no hose or nozzle....bought them at the farm supply store.
I'd have valued yours at maybe a 100 bucks....depending on condition.
