Whatcha gonna do?

What do you do when it's cloudy, spritzing rain, and 55 degrees in the middle of July? Do you build up the fire and snuggle up inside with a good book?

Not this kid. I finished blocking up a cord of firewood. This was a 2 year project blocking up 12 cords. Finally reached the end. Perfect weather for working outside. No mosquitoes or gnats and I didn't work up a sweat.

As a reward I am going to whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Dinner tonight is meatloaf baked in the oven.

We are supposed to get our polar vortex tomorrow, I've got trees already down and plan to cut them up. I need 12 face cord for winter, and I've got over 4 done so far. Also plan to put in some fall vegetables. If it rains I'll probably make soft pretzels and cook till it quits.

Hot and sweaty here.....decided to rotate the tyres on the DW's truck this morning. I've decided that my 43 tear old back is not as strong as it used to be. Throwing the last tyre on I felt the muscles go "uh uh. no more" . Felt so bad I had to make squash casserole, potato salad, meatloaf and french style green beans to chase the pain killers down.

I know. I was picking green beans last night with sweatpants on and a jacket. Not in all my 27 years of gardening has that happened.

I'm loving it! Turned off the A/C and opened up the house. I remember getting a cool snap like this in July about 15 years ago. We had gone to the lake and about froze to death. There was one jacket in the camper and we took turns wearing it, didn't pack anything warm because usually July is sweltering. It is always very windy at that lake, plus it was overcast, we were cccccccold.

No. When it's 55 degrees in July you pack your belongings and move. I. Would. Die. if it got that cold here in July.

Here in central Illinois with windows open I woke up to 58 degrees in the house and 52 degrees outside. (almost too cold to get out of bed) Steam was coming off of the cow pies!

Ah, the old cow pie thermometer. It got down into the low 50s again last night. Glad I had not put the winter blankets away yet. The dog insisted on coming up on the bed and snuggling. Fewer bugs too.

Heat and humidity building in for the end of the week. Highs in the 80s, lows in the 60s. Not as bad as it could be.
