Autocorrect

Sometimes in reading posts here I cant decide if I am missing a point, am seeing a whole new use of a word, or if someone's computer has autocorrected and the poster has not caught it. Makes for interesting reading at times, but leaves me baffled others.

I've turned off the autocorrect on my phone because you couldn't separate it from the auto complete (I think it's called) where it continually guesses the next word you might use - that drove me crazy. Still have it on my tablet and it can be handy...but I still send out occasional messages that sound deranged.

I did send out a text several years ago referencing Trader Joe's....don't know what I did but it autocorrected to Trader hors, so that's what we've called it ever since.

DH sent me a text about my cousin and his wife. Auto correct changed her name to terrorist... given how she treats her sons and her mother in law it actually works better than her name. It did make an interesting read and may now be a family joke

The auto correct on the phone is frustrating.

One time I was mapping out a multi-stop road trip for the following day using the computer in the house. When done I was going to load the trip onto the gps via the computer as it's easier than typing all that in on the gps.

My wife took the car to the store and I sent her a message to bring the gps in from the car when she got home.
Auto correct changed that to say, 'Please bring God in from the car when you get home'

Another time I sent a text to my wife that I had picked up a new sink from Home-depot and auto correct changed it to, 'I love your stink'

I've read a lot of goofy auto correct mishaps and it makes me think that whoever programmed it had a dirty mind and a mean streak.

I disabled it on my new laptop.

Not about autocorrect but the problems of this new way we communicate.
I remember reading about a woman who sent a mass email to family and friends to tell them of a death of a loved one. She ended it with Lol, which she thought meant lots of love. Oops.

Even with out auto correct I get razzed about my texts... I have dyslexcia so things don't always get writen the way I wanted them I once asked DH to stop at the store on the way home and pick up school snakes. That was at least 10 years ago but it's still gets a mention.

My DS#1 texts in short forms drives me batty as then I have to ask him or find a random kid to tell me what he just said. I heard the DIL ask he baby about IRL. He is 8 months old and she is talking text to him. I know that laungue changes but this is getting really silly. I wonder what they are going to call this new laungue?

My daughter sent me a text the other day that she was going to the fruit Richard. Had to text back and ask if this was the Richard Simmons Small Towns Tour.

My iPad tries desperately to keep me from cussing. Doesn't work.

I often get autocorrected texts from my boss. She has a dog named Cappy who is really bad about getting out of his pen. She sent me a text that said, "Kathy Doug under events again".

When I moved back down form Edmonton, I had sent the big gut a text that should have said, 'I look forward to seeing you around 6:00 tomorrow.' With the help of auto correct, he received at message that said, 'I look forward to killing you around 6:00 tomorrow.'

The screen tapping keboeard (keyboard with more care) leads to interesting things too. And I've noticed a defind urban slant to the correct function. Ewes (eyes), doeling (dueling) and manure (manufacture?)

My iPhone thinks Klingon is a common conversational word, and knows the name "Kanye" among other things. It's overly hip. And to make things fun, sometimes it doesn't correct when I think it's going to.

And the NSA is keeping records of this! That is so funny.

I always end my emails to my kids with "xxx ooo", auto correct wants me to say 'xxx zoo', is there really a difference?
