RX price shocker.

I'm in the process of doing our taxes. Usually I go online and print out our RX records for the year from CVS. This year we started to use a different Pharmacy, so to make things easier I went to my insurance company website and downloaded the records. CVS only show our co-payments not what the company paid for the meds. I could not believe what I was seeing. Both me and the DW take metformin. Metformin ER is cheap RIGHT? OH NO IT ISN'T!!!! I don't have a co-payment on the metformin ER. My insurance pays $548.31 for 60 pills. I almost fell out. I take the 1000 mg dose twice a day. You can get the generic 500mg pills for less than 10 bucks a month. So why don't they have me take 4 pills a day instead of 2. I'm not complaining, they pay and I'm happy, but that's a lot of money. Makes my monthly premium of $975 seem like a real bargain.

They're probably showing the difference between the retail price and your copay, not the plan price and your copay.

Also, you should be able to get e printout from CVS showing the amount the insurance paid. They have a variety of different printouts they can do.

If nothing else, you should be able to get the information from your insurance company's website.

(I worked in prescription benefits for 15 years ... and that's a very improbable price for metformin!)

I called my company today. They have a 24 hour number. That's what they pay. Its metformin ER, not the regular metformin. 1000mg in not made in generic, 500 is.

Our Obamacare is Humana HMO, and for everything except Lisinopril, which Publix pharmacy gives free of charge, our pain pills and Elavil, it is still cheaper to use AllDayChemist than to buy American.

1000 mg pills are very reasonable from all day chemist...
