Game board help

I am always looking for a new game board to add for our winter weather, and have heard of this one.

The Settlers of Catan

Have you heard about this or play this one. It kind of reminds me of homesteading. I tried to link it up from Amazon to here but it won't let me. The game is around $38.00 and kids as young as 6 can play. Reviews were good too.

We have it at our house. It is a blast and super easy to play. Basically, you have little houses which represent your "settlements" and little straight pieces which represent your "roads". You get certain resources (wood, wool, stone, etc) based on where your settlements are. You use your resources to build your settlements and roads.

It is a lot of fun and there are lots of "add on's" you can get to make it a new and different game.

We also love

and an all time favorite is Wits and Wagers http://www.amazon.com/North-Star-Gam...tts+and+wagers

My husbands family are HUGE board game player and our games closet is full to over flowing. The ones I listed above are all easy to learn not to long and lots of fun for all ages.

we love that game. love it. My friend's college age son calls it a "gateway game" to thinking, strategy, and intellectual games of all sorts. So beware. you have been warned. =)

A ton of fun. Some relatives own it and we have played it with them, but are thinking of getting it ourselves-or something else in that genre.

Catan is one of our favorite games. While we have a couple of the add ons, we rarely use them and prefer the original.

We got Settlers of Catan this summer when we had to spend 10 days in a hotel (during home repairs from water damage). I'm not a big fan of board games, but I really like Catan. My almost 12 year old son loves it!
