auto insurance question

My daughter was last night involved in a minor accident driving my car.
It was investigated by local cops and the other driver admitted fault.
In this case will it be used against me by my insurance co? Could it cause my rates to go up?
I'm trying to decide now if I should call my company and get them involved or call the guys insurance company directly.

It shouldn't cause your insurance to go up - if it does get another insurance company

Usually you get one "bye" for a minor accident but it will indeed go against your insurance. My insurance Co (USAA) uses points and when a son got into a minor accident a couple years ago my rates didnt go up but it used up my bye and I wont get another one until 5 years pass.

I'd prefer to call my agent and let her handle it but I thought that if this guys insurance is gonna take care of it my company might not get involved or even know about it.
What do you guys think?

I think I would call your agent, if it turns out you have no liability it wont go against you. If there is going to be a claim no matter who pays it your company will be notified.

Absolutely call the agent. You policy may require it, and it would be a reason for the company to drop you if they found out about it from the police or another source. Be aware that some states assign percentage of fault in accidents. You want to see the police report and make sure that 100% of the fault was given to the other driver.

If there's a police report your insurance company will find out anyway.
