what DOES freak you out

In the continuing debates as to what constitutes good and bad hubbies and wives, we've not really established what DOES freak us out.

In the other two threads, my feelings are unless heavy traffic is involved to give the guy a break.

BUT--given my absolutely insane tendancy to run screaming from yellow jackets, failure to deal with one of them inside the house might get my loving husband a long stay in the doghouse.

Bears, mountain lions, coyotes, tarantulas, and scorpions I can take. Serious medical situations--no problem.

But yellow jackets? Or worse yet, centipedes?

Well, that is where the expectations are HIGH

For my Yvonne its spiders and ticks... she totally freaks out over them. I am not all that fond of snakes... I dont really freak out, but they do give me the willies when I first see one. Once I remove his tail... not a problem.

I know, but they are pretty much helpless once you remove that tail.... I generally separate them from it at the first joint....right behind their ears.

Rodents in the house. I can set the traps but I can't empty them other than to give 'em a big fling out the back door. And I have to dress in protective gear to do that.

I'll handle tarantulas and used to when I'd sell them to pet shops, but little spiders give me the willies...

Rattle snakes b/c I'm usually running to keep back the dog, find a shovel and do him in before he escapes somewhere. We've been here 30+ yrs and have only seen 2 in the last 2 yrs but have always known they were here.

The only thing I can't handle ... literally can not do ... is height. Cannot get up on a ladder, climb a tree, etc. and actually do anything. Tried to paint the house once, got up on the ladder with the bucket of paint but absolutely could not make myself let go of the sides of the ladder and hold on to the paint brush.

That and deep water ... water in my face ... although I'm fine with a life jacket on.

DH does really heavy stuff and really high stuff, like roof and chimney and tree stuff.
And I am pretty cool and calm.
Except...
I am kind of squidgy over setting mouse traps. I am afraid they will get my fingers.
And I cannot handle, fall apart completely into jumping, twisting, squealing and totally coming unglued at every seam over camel crickets.
Logically I know they are just camel crickets, but my back brain must see them as a lethal force because I lose my mind... and control over my body.
I really don't understand it. They are small.

But they jump AT you and just keep coming and kind of stick to you when they land..
yep.
Freak out.

I hate anything with a STINGER!! I go around hunting the wasp nest in early spring and kill them off while they are new nest. I love honey, but the suit would have to be so big to keep me from getting stung! Yellow Jackets are by far the worst. I look for the nest all the time. I don't like heights too much. Getting on the ladder though or a lift is O.K. though. Climbing way up in a tree, ain't going to happen. Swimming, I could never get my body to stay on top of the water, I do like to breath!! I would rather fight a snake than any type of bee. I can hit a snake with a hoe, I don't do too well with the flying stinger bugs!
