greenhouse/ what do you use?

What do use to start grow plants in? At our other house I had a great greenhouse. It was 16x25 w/ water fans and heat mats.. Here a greenhouse is WAY down the list. So I have been looking for other options.. pictures of your set up would be wonderful..

How many do you need to start? Lots of small starter setups. tray and plastic to cover will work in a sunlit window. You can start plants in a basement with a growlight. I have a small greenhouse, leanto to shop. Heat mats, growlight and seed starting trays, somewhat like this....James

My husband made me this shelf out of PVC pipe and shop lights. I have one seed starting heat mat, and the seeds go on that until they sprout, then under the lights. I put the lights so that they are only a couple of inches from the top leaves, and put one "warm" and one "cool" colored lamp in each fixture. I put it in a cool part of the house, because too much warmth will make them grow fast and spindly, instead of slow and stocky. You could set them out under low tunnels for a little extra protection when it's time to set out into the garden.

I slapped closet shelving into my south facing dining room window. I put up some of that plastic wrap type sheeting to add insulation, and it's right above a baseboard heater. I've got some of those mini greenhouse seed starters, then transplant into Solo cups.

No window space. Will plant several 100 seedlings .. I thought about purchasing the 75$ greenhouse from Tractor supply. It is 6tallx 4x4 floor space it has 4 tiers and it would be easy enough to take down or move when needed. Have electric radiator type heaters that would be perfect.. Anyone else use this type of system.. I am sure dh could build a better one for less but he is working 12hr days so only the
.really important stuff gets done.

I know this may be too much for what the OP wants, but I found these to be so nifty. First, is a blog where a person built a greenhouse out of pvc! It has two parts, I will link part one and part two for you.

This is part one:

Part two:

The above links I got from this site, which has other greenhouses too, plus stuff I sure would never have thought of:

We have been so busy renovating the farmhouse and getting settled in that a greenhouse (which, thanks to replacing the wooden windows in the farmhouse I have the materials to build) is down the list.

So, today I started playing around out on the back porch. It is five feet off the ground, southwest facing and 15' x 8'. I put two, six foot ladders facing each other then placed 1x6 (2 side by side for a total of 12" worth of shelf to each rung) boards on each set of steps to make shelves. Next, I plan to wrap the ladders in good, heavy mil plastic. I have a small electric heater that I am going to put inside the plastic on the porch floor and use until the seeds germinate. They should get plenty of sunlight out there, but just in case I do have several grow lights I can put on the undersides of the shevles. I am completely experimenting here out of desperation as I need to do at least 200 starts.
