Nasty winter weather

This is what the weather network is saying about my area right now:

Nasty winter weather - Countryside Families

However, by my thermometer, it is *NOT* -30C, it is currently -38C.... so what does that make the wind chill???

Really, really, bitterly cold. I tried to let the dogs out to do their business just now, and they refused to go out. The walls are making weird cracking noises.

I think I'm going to go get my fleecy pjs on, curl up under a quilt, and watch a movie. It's a cuddle-in kind of night!

Brrr, its getting down to 10 F here tonight after it being over 72F the other day, but -38C? That something like 33 or 34 below zero to us Fahrenheit folks.

You can have it.

gosh, I bet it's warmer at the south pole. There's no way I can endure those types of conditions. I hope you have secure backup heating. I don't trust electric during very cold temps because of lines snapping and transformers blowing.

Set your alarm to get up every few hours and check your heat sources to make sure they're still operable.

Hope all stay safe and warm tonight.

It has dropped almost 50 degrees in 24 hours here. Back to winter after a nibble at spring.

The thermometers meet up at -40, so at this point, call it -40F.

Also known as really freaking cold.

Ya know.....I have often thought over the years livin' up that way would be "cool" !! Since I like the outdoors and remoteness as it is where I am now !! But I have come to the conclusion that it would be nice to visit and then come back home !!

I'd trade you for Georgia right now, Greg.

It's bitterly cold out there right now, and I've got to drive my son to work. I am *NOT* looking forward to going out in it.

be careful, Tracy!

here the high wind stopped, so the 12 degrees feels 'nice' again! oh boy...I don't like high wind in the cold!!!!!!

I confess, too, that I'd rather it be cold than the mud we had during those two days of warmer temps. goodness........I about went under squishing in it!

All that cold air has been coming down this way. It was -25* this morning when I took the kids to school. My dogs wouldn't even go outside this morning without a little coaxing from me-then they were only out for about a minute before they were ready to come back in. Luckily, the wind hasn't picked up here, so there's really no windchill issue.

this morning over coffee we talked about picnics at the lake, etc. it was sooo nice to think about. then we pretended not to notice the snow falling outside. oh well...good to dream...but til then I guess it's still the cozy by the fire to get us thru. we both love winter, yet when it does get a bit brutal.........we cave a little!

When it's spring time in Alaska, it's 40 below.

Here in tropical Indiana, it's as cozy as a coonhound on the sofa.

These are some of things the local CBS reporters are filming about our neck of the woods during this cold weather!

This thread reminds me of one more reason I prefer life south of the Manson Nixon line!
