Daughter Update

Today is the 7th day my daughter has attended the therapy program we found for her. We can tell a difference already. She is talking more, laughing and has not had an angry outburst since she started the program. We'll be going for a meeting this afternoon to talk with the people about her progress. So far we are very pleased.

On a different note. The other place she goes that has the psychiatrist I mentioned in the past has programs that will get someone into the workforce. When we were there I asked the woman to give a referral for a case manager. My daughter's long time therapist was the one that suggested it, because the psychiatrist is all but useless with a bad attitude and superiority complex. A case manager will help my daughter get into the programs she needs to move forward and eventually be able to take care of herself. Well, we asked for the referral on the 15th and it's been two weeks with nobody calling us. So I called down there this morning and after waiting for a return call found out the stupid woman never bothered to put the referral in. Needless to say I am extremely angry. If you don't want to do your job, get out. I don't know her reason for not doing it or maybe she's just that incompetent, but my daughter's mental health is important to me and I want her taken care of. I will let them know exactly how I feel in person the next time we go. Of course to that woman we are nothing but uneducated rubes. I guess it's hard to get good help. Okay, rant over.

It's so hard manuvering through "the system". Your DD needs an advocate. She is lucky you are there for her.
