Christmas From Someone That Cares

My wife told me in September she wanted to give Christmas Presents to every Resident in the Local Nursing Home.Ok see if you can get Help from your Womens Group at Church. She asked but satan was working against her, seems none of the women could sew.

I'll admit I didn't see this working considering the number needing to be made. But was glad when she informed me they had enough.

My wife called last week told the Nursing Home what she was wanting to do,they said no problem they would let Lori know so she would be ready.

Today was the day.We had Worship Service at the Nursing Home this afternoon. Then we talked to Lori about passing out the Presents???? Seems she wasn't informed but manged to get things arraigned so she could help us.

It was me,my wife and Lori doing this.I stayed in the Background, took couple Pictures, the Head Nurse seen Flash so she came back telling me I wasn't to take Pictures.I told her I wasn't taking any of Residents,so all was cool.

Truth I had never been in a Nursing Home.First thing I noticed we had everything on two Carts, first thing the Residents wanted to know was who had passed,it occurred to me when someone had passed, they Loaded all their belongings on these Carts.Once they knew no one had passed all was Good.

Then my wife and Lori went into the Rooms,I stayed out but just hearing I could tell so many tears,Hugs and very Grateful and might I add Love. Some couldn't believe they were getting a Gift just for them, once we got it across I don't think you could have pried it from them.

There was one woman in the hall kind of quiet to herself,my wife gave her a Handmade Bag to put on her Wheelchair, she asked my wife if it was hers? Yes,well how about a Hug for it? That womans eyes lit up.You would have thought she had won the Lottery as excited as she was.

My wife and Lori

I'm so glad you got to do this! Nursing home ministry was always my favorite thing to do. We would give socks (Christmas Stockings) to each resident at the local nursing home each Christmas. I always liked taking the kids from church there to carol and hand out the socks, but that didn't always work out well. (Not all kids are taught to behave. LOL) But even if it was just a few of the adults and our own kids going, it was the best time. The Pastor always ordered church calendars every year, and would give them out. Then my husband and I would buy packages of ankle high white socks and give a pair to each resident. It is just wonderful to do nursing home ministry because the people there want to be loved, talked to, and appreciated.

Thank You so much to you & your wife for what you did. I imagine some of those folks might not even get a visitor all year let alone a presant. I think that was a wonderful thing you did & I believe in Karma & what goes around comes around. You & your wife will be doubly blessed.

Your wife has a kind heart. You are lucky, BRP. She's a keeper! But you probably knew that already....

Wonderful of both of you to do this! God bless you both.

God bless you & your ladies BRP. It means so much to the residents. When Mama was in the nursing home, a lady came in with an armful of those Mardi Gras beads & went down the halls giving them to the folks. They enjoyed it so much & it cost so little. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

When my DH's family used to do caroling, the AFC home and the nursing homes were always excited to see us. Bless your dear wife for thinking of the residents. Are they going to do it next year?

What a wonderful thing to do!! May you be greatly blessed. So many in nursing homes are "discarded" or forgotten by their families. I'm sure it lifted many spirits to be remembered in this way.
