Wreaths - The rest of the story
We delivered the wreaths to the food pantry today and it was amazing! When we arrived, two gentlemen waiting for the doors to open pitched in to help unload. They had us place then at the top of the steps. One of the men asked the women in charge what they were for, and when he heard he could take one, his face lit up and he hadn't quit grinning when we left. An older woman saw him taking one, so she asked & when she heard they were a gift she could take, she almost started crying! She kept saying thank you, thank you, thank you. A young man had overheard & he quickly picked one out and his smile was amazing. He had arrived his shoulders hunched over, his eyes downcast and his whole demeanor as if he were carrying the weight of the world. Then he picked out that wreath and he stood a little taller as if he had hope and his burdens were lifted, his eyes were shining and stepped lighter. I don't know his story, but I do know that the wreath made a real difference in his outlook, it brought him joy!
While I was inside getting paperwork signed, I overheard two different people asking for soap and shampoo, the worker looked distressed and had to tell them she didn't have any. I just got off the phone, at our Christmas service at church, we will be collecting personal care items to donate and hope to supply that need for a while. Another expanding circle of this particular gift.
The trees are to be delivered the 20th, and they will have us set up outside and pass them out as people come & go from the Christmas dinner basket giveaway. The kids & I are looking forward to that!
I am so excited to be part of God's working!
