Pneumonia

Wow. I haven't had it in 49 years.
I remember having it as a child and being very sick from it. I don't remember the part about breathing being this difficult.
I went through a 25 day inhaler in 8 days.
The insurance company won't give me another one.
The doctor gave me an albuterol treatment yesterday along with a different antibiotic and a steroid. Breathing much better today.
She said if I have no improvement by Friday that I was hospital bound.
I don't have time for that.
We are moving on Friday and I have a lot of unpacking and planning and decorating to do.
Wow this is just exhausting.

I had it a few years ago and it really laid me out! Remember, breathing is more important than moving. You can move anyday, but you need to BREATHE every day!

Oh please don't mess around with this. You need to stay rested because it will hit you like a baseball bat if you don't. There are others around you that can take directions. Even if they can't pretend they can.

I hope you are feeling better, Pneumonia is nothing to fool with.

I just got over a bout of it and was very sick. Without Bette I have 5 dogs and two kitties to take care of and there is no one to help. Couldn't go to the hospital. Am feeling much better now.

Have had it too, you think you're gonna have to get better to die!
Prayers & good thoughts but YOU must do YOUR part & take care of yourself!

Can the doctor order you a nebulizer treatment with albuterol?? I got mine 4 years ago when I finally went to the doctor and he wanted to get me breathing better before he had to hospitalize me. The allergy dr needed me off meds for 2 weeks before skin testing- not the albuterol, one of my chronic pain meds. That nebulizer buffaloed TSA employees every time I flew. After weeks of nebulizing regularly I was able to switch to as needed treatments. Pneumonia is no joke.It used to kill people, not just pre-antibiotics
but also from sepsis (blood poisoning as mentioned) or additional infections that strike while you are weak.
I strongly recommend adding sambuca- elderberry - to reduce the risk of additional infections while you are fighting this off. Now go make yourself a hot rum toddy- a bit of real butter, a bit of sugar, a shot of rum, and 4 ounces very hot water. Go stretch out on the couch and rest!

I have a cousin and an aunt who died young from pneumonia. Do what you have to do to get over it, even if you have to pay for your own treatment, and even if you have to go to the hospital. Don't ignore it.

Take care of yourself!!! I am one that can never sit down for long, always have to be doing something, but I have learned that when I get pneumonia, I have to REST!!!
I had it about a month ago and got it the weekend we moved. Recovered from that and turned around and had gallbladder surgery. I don't like not doing anything and it drives me nuts that my house is still not unpacked, but we have to take care of ourselves first!!!

It's tough, but I have to be able to go to work on Monday so I can't take any chances. The man of the house has his 34 yo son, a friend and the friends 16 yo son coming tomorrow. I'm watching the truck get loaded. S.O. was a loadmaster so everyone will be listening to him. We've done this a few times before. He will be able to tell me where everything is on the truck. Even which box is where. It's amazing.
The combination of antibiotic and steroid they have me on make it dangerous to do any walking beyond what is absolutely necessary. Something about ligament or tendon ruptures? in the back of the anlke. NOT taking any chances with that either!! I walk MILES at work so cannot afford any injuries from stupidity!
Thanks for the concern everyone. It seems there is a lot of pneumonia going around this year, doesn't it. Moreso than previous years, IIRC.
