an "oh poo" moment at my new job...
Just got out of a bad 3 yr. job situation, average pay with great benefits and a brand new office, but 3 of the 7 co-workers were awful and did really mean things to me that the manager didn't do anything about and corporate HR tried, but it was too little too late from my end and I quit in May. We thought we had our farm sold to the neighbor for his son at that time, and would have moved to MT by my parents. Well, neighbor lied to us about having bank approval for 4 weeks and finally said "oh, they said I can't get the money", then offered us a 40% lower price on our hobby farm. Uh, no. Then DH's brother committed suicide, so we decided to stay local for his parents. So I searched and searched for a job. Found a good job but had to quit after a week as I have a lot of metal hardware in my right leg from a horse accident 2 yrs ago and found out 8 hrs on concrete leads to me not being able to put a shoe on due to extreme swelling.
So...got a office manager job at a 2400 cow dairy 15 miles from home (down from the 3 years of driving 36 miles one way). It's part time and no benefits, but the savings in gas and the $4/hr more than I made before evens out. The dairy is owned by two 50ish brothers and a son of each. I kinda got the feeling I was a pet project of the one brother, who is my manager. The other brother's wife is who does the bookwork now. Just found out she refuses to train me and all 4 owners are in an uproar. With the one I work closely for saying to me "just don't leave me, please give it time and just have a good backbone for a bit". Oh boy.
I know I'll do a good job and I love the farming industry plus the flexible hrs and close drive and great pay are all awesome, but really?? Can't I just find a happy place where everyone floats around on puffy clouds and loves everyone? lol
