REMINISCE - a wonderful read

While I was waiting in the doctor's office the other day I read this wonderful magazine "Reminisce" about life in the past -20s, 30s, 40s, 50s. I did not get to read it all - wanted to sneak it into my purse but the receptionist was watching me like a hawk. I always bring any magazine I borrow back the next visit.

Not only is the magazine filled with fantastic articles but a great part of it is filled with the personal stories of real people and anyone can submit an article. I found it on line:

I was able to read about the prices of visiting and camping in National Parks in the 1940s and about going to school with horses in the 1930s.

Theres another called The Good Old Days. When I first found it 30 yrs ago it was full of stories from things peoples folks and grandfolks had told them. Almost all of the stores ran from the 1890s to around 1920. NOW, they run from there 40ss to the 60s, with the 50s being promanant. I remember the 50s on up just fine, and it bothers me that I cant find the old stories that I want to find in a magazine titled The Good Old Days.

We used to get that magazine emdeengee and we always enjoyed it. If you like the photos and descriptions of older things you may enjoy this website : Shorpy Historical Photo Archive | Vintage Fine Art Prints.

Lots of pictures culled from the national archives along with submitted old photos and the comments are well worth reading. Lots of social anthropologists are members and have some great comments and will do research on the various photos up to and including the fate of some of the subjects or explanations of some of the long forgotten items or products in the photos.
