So excited, gonna meet my brother!
Some of you know that I am adopted. I met my birth mother in 1996, but hadn't seen her since she went home to Florida. I spoke to a couple of my siblings but hadn't spoken to them since then either.
Fast forward to the Joplin Tornado... my birth mother knew that I worked in that town when she met me in 1996, and was so worried that I had died in the tornado. She would sit and watch the TV accounts, and she would swear that she had seen me, but then she would also scour the list of names for the people that died. She asked her grand daughter to track me down on Facebook. Well, I didn't see the message from her for several months because of that nasty habit that Facebook has of sending some of your private messages to the "other" folder.
I got in touch with my niece, and from her found one of my brothers and her mom, one of my sisters. My brother lives in Germany and will be coming to OKC for training tomorrow, and will be in the area for 3 weeks. He called me today and we are going to meet for the first time! It will be next week, but I am so excited! There is a bit of a family resemblance so for the first time I will meet someone of my generation that I look like. Two of my kids look just like me, so I can see what I used to look like, but with my big brother I can see what I WILL look like. How fun is that? I will post pix once he comes to visit. I was just so excited I had to share with y'all!
God bless you and yours
Deb

It will be an exciting time for you, I hope you continue to share as things unfold.
I was also adopted,,, finally met my brother and sister when I was in my early 30's.
I could have been my brothers twin 2 yrs removed. When my Mother came to see me for the first time since I was 2,, I recognized her as soon as she got off the plane..
Yeah,,, you're in for a delightful time,, I'm glad for you.
This doesn't happen oftn enough..

I remember meeting my birth family for the first time in 1995. We drove to Florida and they had a big reunion of sorts. My mother, four sisters and two of my brothers were there along with quite a few nieces and nephews. One brother came from Wisconsin with his family. It was all pretty overwhelming for me, because I don't much like crowds or new situations. I was the star of the day. Of course that faded pretty quickly afterwards and I only kept in touch with my mother, one sister and one brother. I hope all goes well for you.

Thanks y'all. I am so thankful that my apartment inspection was last week, because I don't have to clean that much so I can focus on trying to keep my mind on regular stuff before he gets here. He said he would try to find some pix to bring with him as I have never seen one of our sisters and one of our brothers. The one sister that I have never seen is dying of lung cancer right now, and out mother is taking care of her. One of my kids will be out of town but hopefully the other two will get to meet their uncle. He told me that he is low-key, which is good since I don't do much beyond hanging out here at home. Oooh, I think I had better go dig out some pix of me and the kids. Yay! a project for today.
God bless you and yours

96 must have been the year. I met my birth mother and siblings that year. Lost sister and baby brother in the last few years but the older little brother is still kicking, and he and I have more in common that he had with the ones he grew up with.
Enjoy the meeting and visit.

Hey all, we had to put off the visit until this weekend. Tomorrow is the day. We plan to just hand out and eat home cooked food ,he travels so much and was really excited when I mentioned that. Gonna try to take some pix and exchange life stories. I might take him for a tour of the tornado damage since he has actually been in our area before, when we didn't know each other. And that is all that we have planned. Gonna play it by ear. I think it sounds nice. Fill y'all in late tomorrow or Sunday.
God bless you and yours
