Don't eat the birds.

Ran this feller out of the chicken house this morning and this afternoon
I found him on top of one of my bird houses. I don't mind him being there
as long as he eats the mice, but don't eat the birds.
By the time I went and got my camera he was moving on,

if you can look close enough you can see the tiny bird on the leaning tree.

He will eat your eggs.

We had a pair of those that live on our place, the kids named them Beezus and Ramona.

That is a big snake, wonder how old it is to grow that big?? Great asset to have on your place as long as it stays in its niche. But if it figures out eggs are the easiest thing to "hunt", besides baby birds in the nest, it will be a liability and not an asset.

My youngest DS (7yrs) found a snake about that size coiled behind the toilet! I was able to capture it and released him under the abandoned trailer next door.

I've lost 8 chickens this year, have 2 coons and a possum to show for it. Trap em, shoot em, sling em in the holler.

Coons are mean! They won't just steal cat food. They'll eat your chicks, chickens and your eggs. We live trap and shoot. Farmmom, that snake was probably back at your place an hour or two after you moved it.

Everything in nature balances out. If you feed the wildlife then it should feed you.

That is a big snake... I am glad it seems to enjoy having its picture taken.... Love the little raccoon,it would have taken everything that is in me not to feed it or try and pet it... My Dad had a Family of them that were pretty sure they were his house pets, when Mom had babies she brought them all to my Dads too.. he fed them and they just hung out....after he passed away they never came back, kinda like they knew not to.

Yeah, I know. I can't bring myself to kill a black snake though, and there is nothing here for him to eat except mice, so he's welcome, just not inside my house.

Love the snake! Would never kill one unless it was venomous (and where it would be a danger to us) as they are great rodent control. Sorry, the coon would have to be dispatched - I have lost to many chickens to racoons in the past.

Coons and non venomous snakes (and possums) get a free ride here...down the road and across the creek.

I love the picture of the snake when he turned around as if to ask you what you wanted and the coon looks like a youngster...that does NOT have rabies!

Same here.

Except the only snakes we see around here are garter snakes. Unfortunately the Muscovies are a little hard on them.

I try very hard to co-exist with the wildlife around me. Occasionally drastic measures have to be taken but that is always the last resort.

We have one about that size here, goes by the name of Blackie. He was here before we were, so he gets respect from us. Yesterday we were outside, about to do some yard work in the front yard and one of the kids spotted a smaller one on the lawn. I tried to move it before I started mowing but he climbed up into one of the Rose of Sharron bushes and stayed there while we worked. I like to see them about the place. They won't mess with me as long as I don't mess with them, and I don't have a vermin problem to boot.

My dog food is more secure than that. If the dogs don't clean it up they get less.

Yup, when the minks and things started eating the cat food I had out for the strays, I started only feeding enough for the day, anything extra was picked up and put away. The cats knew quickly what time to come eat.

I don't shoot critters if its my fault they are there just being themselves. Unless of course I'm real hungry and intend to eat it.
