Smile Poll: What's your faith?

I notice that faith matters come up a LOT on some of the threads, and I thought this might be a useful poll-- maybe handy for keeping in mind when providing advice for some?
Sometimes certain thoughts and expressions can be a comfort, sometimes they can be offensive to a different audience.

Opinions are opinions and everybody's got one. I just think it'd be nice to keep the whole forum civil-- and great to see just how much everyone has in common and the similar connection to the land and creatures despite whatever faith background or practices we no doubt all have.

Hopefully this will be kinda fun and eye opening to talk about-- and I hope the mod hammer will come down if it becomes anything otherwise.

Well... I can hope people will be mature about it-- maybe see how it goes? Might be good to know your audience?

We currently attend a Southern Baptist, but we don't claim Baptist as our Religion. We don't believe everything the Southern Baptist, or other Baptist believe. But where we live and our choices around us, it is a church that we're comfortable attending with our family.

For us, our beliefs in God and Jesus is more important that calming a religious club to belong to.

I agree mommathea, I don't claim a religion but a relationship with Jesus. Big difference in the two.

For myself, I am a practicing non denominational Christian and I do not currently belong to a church family. I have before, and I will again, just haven't found a good fit yet where I am living now.

As I grow in my walk, I am developing a huge appreciation for Catholicism that took me by surprise. I may not be concerned with the rituals of the faith, but the scholarly contributions of my catholic brothers and sisters is astounding to me.

I've really deeply enjoyed friendships and associations from "salt of the earth" folks from many groups--- JW, LDS-- and Paganism holds a history for me as well. It is not my path, but I understand and respect what makes it tick.

Frankly, I don't see where this has anything to do with having to assign people to a "religious club" but rather a new board member who is curious what the demographics of the board shakes out to be.
For that matter, she didn't ask about religion, she asked about faith.

BTW, I can already tell you the results, Dusky... It'll go heavily Protestant/non-denominational.

I checked atheist/agnostic, but those are emotionally charged labels for some. I'd prefer to just say that I have no religious faith.

Raised Christian, then became agnostic for maybe a year. Now atheist.

This was my intention-- I've noticed some homesteaders wear their beliefs on their sleeve, but I'm already very excited to see some of the numbers do the speaking for those that are usually quiet about it.
I've been impressed with the civility of other farmy-type forums on matters of religion, so I'm not *too* worried... much!!

I'm a procrastinator. Oh wait, that's a lifestyle, not a religion.

But seriously, I have to chose other. I believe in God and Jesus but not in the fashion which is taught by most Christian religions.

Raised Roman Catholic. Never really believed it. Was forced to receive the sacrament of Confirmation at age ? 13? I think. Still don't believe in any of it.

Hey! How come the Catholics get to be in the poll twice? No fair!

Disclaimer: The above is a JOKE and not meant to offend Catholics or cause people of the other listed faiths to start hatin' on the Catholics. I marked Protestant in the poll, but I lean very heavily towards Catholicism. I'm fascinated by the traditions and the beautiful churches...
