Both my previous husband and my present husband were veterans, both Viet Nam vets. Current husband is retired Navy, he is the commander of the local VFW Post here. I worked for 10 years in a VA Hospital, primarily on a psych unit dealing with PTSD, mostly Viet Name era veterans. More recently, a son of friends of ours came back from Afghanistan as a paraplegic and brought his dog with him, both injured in the same roadside bomb.

Both of us are very aware of the sacrifices made by our military.

Greg ; Being a Nam vet it's not about putting it out there en-masse. It's about being genuine and heartfelt in your actions. I've become very good over a period of 41 years being able to tell the fakers from the believers. Most people feel they need to say certain things to be politically correct.

Any true vet will tell you ; ( No Thanks Needed ) I appreciate the ones who know the true meaning and while I see part of what you're saying ; It's not about numbers ; But about those who truly see the meaning behind the man.

Guilt doesn't make for a good thank you. By laying the shame on you tag ; You've become a number person instead of a person who just wanted to say thanks in a good way even if your heart was in the right place.

I can remember hearing this at night during my basic training.
