Wheat Montana Flour

My son was in Grand Island, NE for work and he found Wheat Montana flour at Walmart. He bought me a bag and spent 10.13 shipping me a 5lb. Bag. I looked at their website, it was interesting and there were recipes. It looks like they also sell bread and other baked goods. They make a lot of different products.

The flour came today, it is a nice creamy color. I can't wait to try it. Are any of you familiar with this brand?

We are also waiting for an order of Jersey Cream flour from Hudson, Ks.

I had to laugh at my mailman, I said "Oh, you brought my flour!". He asked me if it was a floral arrangement. I think he wondered why someone would pay 10.13 to send someone a bag of flour!

I've known Dean who own Wheat Montana for quite a few years, his family has own land in the Three Forks MT area for around 100 years. Every time we pass through Three Forks we stop fill up with coffee buy pastries, bread and flour.

They carry it at Hy Vee, too. That is the brand of whole wheat flour I usually buy. "anything on sale" for unbleached all purpose flour, but I will pay extra to get the extra good whole wheat flour.

I purchase their wheat, but in 50 lb bags. We have a group that orders once a year so that it doesn't cost us that much extra for the shipping.

Their website says that their flour is being carried in Wal-Marts across the country, so maybe you can avoid all that shipping expense. I am going to see if my local Wally world has it on the shelf yet.

Our Walmarts carry the flour-but I too buy the whole grain by the 50 pounds bags. Looks so much better than other brands of whole grains I've seen.

Check out any local Mennonite/Amish store....we are able to buy the 50# bags right there. Saves alot on shipping.

I love Hudson Cream Flour. I use it all the time. Fantastic flour, and I think they are the last independent flour mill in Kansas.

Hope you enjoy yours when you get it.

The quality of their baked products is not as good as it was when they first started at Three Forks. It's been about a year since I've stopped their, so it may be better again. I don't usually buy flour, since we have a local growers group in southeastern WA that mills all their own flour which we buy.

I always stop on my way out to see my sister in Washington. If I can get the time off arranged, Mom wants to see the apple blossom time in Chelan. We will stop on our way out and back. Okay, partly because there aren't many other bathroom stops out there.

Their 7 grain cereal is wonderful, I used to have it for breakfast every day when we lived in Illinois. I can't find it here in Texas, though.
