SW MO folk ~ Your vacation cabin rental thoughts / advice...

We're going to be vacationing in the Branson / Springfield / Table Rock lake area this June and I am trying to find an economical (!) cabin (house) rental that will accommodate a whole lot of people (7 - 10) and is fairly ADA compliant as my mother cannot handle stairs. So, while a second level is okay for the rest of us, we need at least a bedroom & bathroom on a ground level floor. Would like for it to be nearer to Branson than not, and if possible nearer to both Branson & Springfield than, Joplin side, or AR side, say. Lake front isn't an absolute must, but preferred. We will be taking tents and may or may not use them, but it won't be to crowd additional people in, just to let the kids & the nature-friendly among us 'camp', while the more city-oriented and less-abled individuals can enjoy the stay as well. Pets must be allowed as my brother's family refuses to travel without their mutts - although they will probably only be there for the weekend unless plans change. Our lake-interests include boat / jet ski rental possibly, snorkeling, swimming (child-safe), & fishing. Privacy is a concern as well, we don't mind well behaved neighbors a suitable distance away but tripping over neighbors, fighting over amenities, or having to deal with a lot of drunks (or a few drunks, for that matter) in our space isn't going to be well tolerated.

I know that's a tall order, and we are somewhat flexible in most areas, but I am trying to please a lot of people so that we can all enjoy the trip. This is the first time we're venturing out of NW AR for vacation & so far all the rentals I have found are geared more towards the professional / golfer / doctor / socialite type and that is sooooo not us. lol I would prefer, too, to rent from a family or individual as opposed to a company if possible - in the spirit of supporting family-owned business.

Sooo, if you have any ideas as to places you can direct me to I would greatly appreciate it!!

I can't direct you to anyplace specific, just wanted to say you made a great choice for a vacation spot. Love Table Rock Lake, we vacationed there many times but in a campground.

When I've looked for cabin rentals I checked with the Branson visitors bureau or Chamber of Commerce (can't remember which). They will mail you lots of brochures for different resorts and you can pick one that will fit your needs. I've found that contact online; sorry I don't have a link to share with you.

You will enjoy your time there, no matter which spot you choose, I am sure!

Thanks for the help. I do have some info. from the Visitor's Bureau that will help a lot but still would like to have information as to less commercial cabins...I know in NW AR there are a ton of them so I am hoping that Branson would have some as well!!

I always use vrbo and homeaway for private rentals when we travel. Tripadvisors also have links to private rentals. I did a quick search and came up with this house for you guys.....

Branson vacation cabin rental: Make New Family Memories at Memory Maker Lodge!

ETA I also google say, Branson vacation rental, to see what comes up.

We always find our places to stay online. I know it's pricey, but Big Cedar Lodge is wonderful. Indian Point is a good place to stay too.

Thank you for that info, laurafergie...I've found quite a few considerations through those two sites. I think the Big Cedar Lodge would be great for a day or two where you just want to veg or have a spa day but I don't think it'd be right for this vacation with everyone going & doing a million other things...I will have to keep it in mind for the future, though!!

Check the state campgrounds on table rock. Many of the Missouri lake campgrounds have cabins that you can rent, and the cost is VERY affordable.

Some friends of ours are always coming up with deals to Big Cedar Lodge on Craigslist and Ebay, so you might check there. Otherwise, as stated above, campsites are very affordable here.
