Went to the Loretta Lynn concert
For those of you who want to know how it was to see Loretta Lynn...here ya go(and it's going to be a bit long). Loretta Lynn's daughter, Patsy, opened up the show by talking to the crowd for a bit. She was beautiful. Her brother, Ernie, started the show off with 3 songs and did a decent job-for being pretty soused! Patsy came back out with her twin sister, Peggy to sing a few songs and they did awesome. Very good harmony between them! Also, it was kinda interesting to see that while Patsy looked a lot like Loretta(and she was beautiful!), Peggy looked more like their aunt...Crystal Gayle!
When Loretta came out to sing, in one of her trademark dresses(it was periwinkle blue) she was clearing her throat some. She got a drink of water and asked Patsy to come out and help her. Loretta said that her voice went on the walk between the bus and the stage. Patsy helped her out some(while Peggy sang harmony and Ernie "played" rhythm guitar) and there were times that Loretta had to let Patsy finish a line of a song. More often than not, Patsy stepped away from her mic and let her Momma have at it. I thought she did pretty darned good. It was the first show of her 50th Anniversary of being a recording artist.
Loretta and her kids cut up quite a bit on stage and that was really fun to watch. Her rhythm guitarist sang "Don't go lovin' on nobody but me" and did an awesome job of it.
Well, after the show we gambled some and as we were walking by the bar I stopped Chris and said, "Um, isn't that Ernie?" Ernie had said during the show that he was separated from his wife...she was in TN and he was in OK, and that he would be at the bar after the show. He wasn't lyin'! Chris noticed that the rhythm guitarist was sitting with him so I went up and asked if I could buy them a drink for doing such an awesome job. Ernie answered with a "G---- right!" Ended up he wouldn't let me but we talked to them for about 15 minutes and it was great. Ernie said that he had had squirrel and gravy for breakfast that morning before getting on the bus. He was very drunk. The best part was when he started singing "Devil Woman" by Marty Robbins, the rhythm guitarist(I can't remember his name darnit!) started singing and then so did Chris! Chris got to sing 3 part harmony with Loretta Lynn's son! He was a really nice guy and very, um, flirty or whatever you want to call it. When I said we were from MO he said, "haha, show me! Just a little at least!" I just swatted his arm and told him, "oh, like I've never heard that before!" When we left he gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Chris also talked coon huntin' with them! It was a great night!

I wish I could have been there!
Someday, I might drive down to Branson and see what's going on there. . . .
I love Loretta Lynn & would have loved to see her kids. . . . I remember reading an interview with her quite a while ago about her twins (who were about 12 at the time) and she seems pretty nice.

Listening to Van Lear Rose right now. Wish I could have gone to the show, she's still gorgeous in those dresses.

I've always enjoyed her music, especially duets with Conway. I remember an interview with her daughter Patsy, she joked that with her mom's accent she said 'pannyhose' instead of pantyhose.

It's a shame folks have to get older. Loretta's voice is not what it used to be.
But she's still Loretta, and that's a whole lot. She is one of the most down-to-earth folks you'll ever meet and she would be right at home drinking a cup of coffee in any of your living rooms.
As my daddy used to say, "She's good people".

It was great. I'll remember it forever. Her voice was waning a little but she belted out Fist City perfectly

'Fist City' is one of my all time favorites of hers. I loved it when she sang with Conway. We lost him too early.

I did NOT win any money lol I put 20 bucks(egads!) in a slot machine and it was gone in no time at all. DH played blackjack and lost 20 bucks. I said, okay that's enough! He didn't think I should buy a tshirt from her though because it cost too money but at least I would have got something for the 25 bucks instead of absolutely nothing!!!
