My husband had a friend in the military who got in a fight with his wife while he was boozed up and smashed his face into a mirror in anger...cut his face pretty badly. My husband and I went and picked him up and glued him back together with super glue. Worked like a charm! An odd fact about that night is I was in labor the whole time this was happening, as soon as we got him glued together we headed to the hospital (only 5 mins away) and my son was born not even an hour later! I always tell my husband's friend that he is lucky we came and got him, I was in quite a bit of pain but trying to wait until last minute to go to the hospital after a bad experience with my first childbirth and having 18 hours of labor in the hospital...guess it works :-)

Yikes!! Nickie, please watch for infection, and be careful!! Superglue is great, but if the wound wasn't cleaned properly, you can still have problems. I hope it heals perfectly!!

Linsay2231, wow, what a story -- glad all was well!!

A doctor friend of mine told me there is a medical version of superglue they use in the hospitals all the time. He said you have to not get it into the wound, too, but just glue the skin back together and leave a place for the wound to drain as well as get it really clean (bacterially speaking) before closing the wound.

My sister-in-law glues her split fingernails back together again, although she says it will unglue if they are in water too long.

DH is a diabetic, insulin supported and he's had problems with the skin on his forearms ripping and tearing with any type of contact. Even removing a bandaid will rip the skin and cause bleeding. His solution is to carry a small bottle of Liquid Skin with him and repair/glue the skin in place after cleaning. His dad has had the same problem for several months too and he also uses the Liquid Skin.

I cut mine like that a few years back dressing rabbits. No insurance and dh was laid off so no money either. I let it bleed, cleaned it and then held it together while dd glued it. Healed up just fine! If you're worried about infection maybe take some goldenseal.

My hands get raw in the winter...crack and bleed and extremely painful...sometimes to the point I can't even drive my truck cause I can't stand touching the steering wheel. About a month and a half ago, (out of desperation) I took some superglue from my workbench, and put a layer over all the areas that were split and cracked. Once it dried, it was like having callouses over everything...it's awesome. I told my friend who has hands that are like mine (maybe even worse), and he tried it and had good results as well.

After open-heart surgery a few years ago, my chest was super-glued back together....I use it all the time for MANY things. The Gorilla Glue is the best thing going!

I was going to ask about super glue for this same reason! My thumb is so bad it's to the point of bleeding & hurts to use it. The hands get worse as winter goes on.

Wonder if Liquid Skin would be better for cracks in the skin?

Nickie I hope your cut heals quickly & no infection!

I cut my thumb to the bone trimming rhubarb. 1" long cut. I did not know DH sharpened all the knives without telling me HaHa.

I looked, laid the knife down, grabbed a paper towel and drove to the emergency room.

$900.00 doctor bill, medical grade super glue, yep.

Be careful guys.

I had a friend who did fencing for summer work and he got all kinds of cuts. He kept superglue in in his toolbox for bad cuts, used it several times. Hope your finger heals up soon!

Dollar tree has liquid skin?!?! I paid almost $10 for some, then a co-worker let her child paint his fingers with it and peel it off... Used the whole bottle! And, no, she wouldn't replace it.
