LOL!
Mamita, one time I brought a can of 'bug off' with me so I could sit outdoors and relax without getting dive bombed by mosquitos, blackflies, whatever.

Sprayed a liberal application on me, and something funny happened- bugs kept approaching & landing, but they'd land with a 'splash'- like on an oil slick . . . they weren't dead, but couldn't fly away, too weighted down by the 'bug off'.
This kept happening, so I checked the can--- END DUST!!!! Very similar in shape and size to what I thought I'd grabbed. . . .

OMG those events certainly are funny! ROFL

Let me add a "true" funny of my own: (Only excuse I had was that I was a teen at the time and rushed to catch a bus.) I had just brushed my teeth and grabbed the mouthwash. I gargled with it before I realized it wasn't mouthwash at all. It was "Pine Sol"! Yuk! Had that terrible taste in my mouth most of the day!

Poor Mamita! But funny....

(Just between the two of us, I've been known to smack unsuspecting spider-looking forms with a shoe only to find out it wasn't a spider....felt really silly. Glad no one knows that ).

When we'd visit my mom in Fl she would chase any waterbugs she saw (huge super roaches for those unfamiliar) with a can of Raid. We'd sit there in a toxic cloud...more afraid of mom and her can than the bug!

Bug spray is so expensive..I just use hairspray. Kills them fast, and in your case, it wouldn't have smelled as bad!

yeah, spiders are pure evil. Had a tarantula in my sleeping bag when I was 5 years old. Ruined me for life...
