I did it!

I really did! My last Christmas present arrived at my friend's house yesterday ... BEFORE CHRISTMAS ... which is, I think, a first. I always do artwork for her and it seems like it is usually late!

Anyway ... it arrived and is already up on her wall ... a pencil and colored pencil drawing I did from photos I took of some of her Toy Manchester Terrier puppies when she was here ...

Plus I've been having fun with butterflies this year. I think it needed more, but I decided if I was going to get it there before Christmas I was going to have to quit with three.

I love the composition/placement you used and that is an adorable picture. I bet she's pleased as can be with that. I know I would be.

That is absolutely beautiful! I bet your friend cried when she opened her presant! I think you should sell your work, you are very talented!

Thank you, everyone. I enjoy it and actually did do it 'professionally' for years ... did art shows and horse and dog shows ... had a booth setup and probably did half a dozen or more shows a year.

I keep saying that I need to get a website up with my artwork, but so far the best I've done is a blog (which I don't keep up with well) but my favorite dog portrait is up on the blog. One of my biggest problems is that the pencil work does not photograph well for digital images and I haven't found anyone locally that has the scanning equipment you really need to do it right.

I still enjoy it as much as I ever did and I'm still learning new techniques. Who would have believed you could "paint" with sponge eye shadow applicators and powdered graphite and soft pastels! just another advantage of the Internet ... and the Wet Canvas site for artists!
