Wife made cookies today

Chocolate chip. I noticed some were pretty dark and kinda crisp, so I asked about them. Our oven seems to have a problem and she said the first batch is always messed up. So in my wisdom I asked her why she doesn't do the second batch first. She was not amused. So it's my job to eat the ones from the first batch. They seem okay to me, sort of.

That'll teach *YOU* to be a smart-alec. Anyways, there could be worse punishments.

I don't think I am able to be anything but a smart alec. It's just my nature. What she doesn't know is I prefer the darker cookies. The rest of the family prefers the soft ones that are gooey in the middle. So I get punished by being forced to eat the ones I really want.

I once had a little kid come up to me at a gas station in Gettysburg and ask me if I was Batman. Of course I said yes. So since then my youngest has always called me that. She takes after me I fear.

If I'm making cookies to take somewhere, I always tell DH he can have the ugly ones. It always ends up being more imperfect ones than I realized...

I dont want half baked gooey cookies, dont want hard brittle cookies that shoot crumbs across the room when you bite into them. I actually like cookies with a dense cake like structure, fully cooked, not burned. Mom used to make these raisin cookies that were my idea of the perfect cookie. Have to dig out her recipe one of these days and try to make some.
